PET WELFARE

We will carry out a health check before and during the grooming session and will notify the owner of anything we find. It will be the owner’s responsibility to seek veterinary advice. We are not medical professionals and our health checks do not replace the need to take your dog to the vets for check-ups, advice and treatment.

If any parasites are found during the grooming session the client agrees for them to be cleared at the client’s expense plus any subsequent costs for cleaning and decontamination.

All dogs brought to The Grooming Room for a groom must be fully vaccinated, wormed and flead up to date. Any fleas found on your dog will incur an extra charge of £10 added to the original grooming price.

PET BEHAVIOUR

We reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs with behavioural problems. The owner must agree to inform us if their dog is known to be aggressive or has ever bitten anyone. The owner understands that they will be legally liable for the consequences of all bites caused by their dog. If a dog shows excessive aggression during the groom we have the right to use a soft muzzle. If we are unable to complete a groom due to aggressive behaviour or injury to groomer or pet, the owner agrees to pay for any work carried out to that point. There may be additional costs for difficult dogs.

MATTING AND CLIP OFFS / SHAVE DOWN

If your dog is in a matted state and needs shaving off as stated in the Animal Welfare Act 2006, by signing this form you are granting us permission to do so. There will be an extra charge added to the original grooming price, dependant on the severity of the matting and time taken to remove the coat.

If your dog has a severely matted coat our policy is to remove the coat by shaving close to the skin using electric clippers. This can in some cases cause skin irritation or skin nicks from the close shaving. I the client agree that The Grooming Room will not be held responsible for any affect that this has after the grooming session is complete.

De-matting severely matted coat causes your dog tremendous stress and discomfort. We will only groom HUMANELY therefore if a dog is presented to us in this condition it is our policy to shave the coat off. Shaving of dogs will dramatically change their appearance and the hair will be very short and close to the skin. This may expose pre-existing skin complaints.

MISSED AND LATE APPOINTMENTS

Please DO NOT be late for your grooming appointment.  Being late for your appointment will result in your dog being refused for its groom.  Starting a groom later than the scheduled time means running behind and not having enough time to groom your dog and running into the next appointment which in turn is not fair on the next customer. A late fee charge will be required for the missed appointment and before any future appointments can be booked.

Any appointments which are missed or cancelled within less than 24 hours will be charged in full and will need to be paid for before your next grooming appointment.

You will be given a time in which to collect your dog after their grooming session, please do not arrive early as this can upset your dog and makes it very difficult to finish the groom. ANY LATENESS COLLECTING YOUR DOG WILL INCUR AN EXTRA CHARGE OF £5 FOR EVERY 15MINUTES LATE.
